Green Tea Extract is a botanical extract obtained from the leaves of Camellia sinensis (L.) Kuntze. Unlike black tea, green tea leaves are minimally oxidized during processing and retain a high proportion of their naturally occurring catechins and polyphenols. The principal catechins include EGCG, EGC, ECG and EC, with EGCG being the major characteristic catechin. Standardized Green Tea Extracts are commonly specified by Total Polyphenols/Catechins and/or EGCG content.
