Arjuna Extract is a botanical extract derived primarily from the bark of Terminalia arjuna (Roxb. ex DC.) Wight & Arn., commonly known as Arjuna or Arjun Tree. The plant belongs to the Combretaceae family and is an important botanical used in traditional Indian formulations.
The bark of Terminalia arjuna contains a diverse range of naturally occurring phytochemicals, including tannins, polyphenols, flavonoids, glycosides and triterpenoids. Characteristic triterpenoid constituents reported from Arjuna include arjunic acid, arjunolic acid, arjungenin and related compounds.
Arjuna Bark Extract can be incorporated into cosmetic and personal care formulations where a botanical ingredient with a naturally occurring polyphenolic and tannin profile is desired. It can be used in skin care, body care, face care, creams, lotions, gels, serums and herbal personal care formulations.
The composition of Arjuna Extract can vary depending on the plant part, extraction solvent, extraction ratio, processing conditions and degree of standardization.
